Old Vine Zinfandel, Predator, Lodi 2021

We adore this wine here at bloom, 50 year old vines and the most amazing tale about the vineyard, predator because they don’t use pesticides on the the vine they have cultivated a mass colony of ladybirds that eat all the pests. 
Now about the wine! Ooooh it’s big it’s a Zinfandel but bigger first you get smokiness possibly from the vine taking on the smoke from burning the land around the vineyard to protect from wild fire. Now the nose gets the smoke but then first taste it’s big big fruit and the smoke falls to the background. The fruit carries on (all we say is sweet maple cure bacon think that) then the wine just unravels to the most beautiful big full red Zinfandel you will ever try.
